COMMERCIAL.

CHUISTC.HU.KCH MARKTCTS. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, Maj T 9. Tlic local wheat market is firmer in consequence of the shortage of offerings, and the fact that millers are again operating. The latter are giving up to 3s 3d at country stations. -This is a penny more than shippers can give, and consequently the latter are unable to make purchases, London values not warranting their paying more than 3s 2d. The rise in the local market thus prevents advantage being taken of the recent reduction in freights. ' There is nothing fresh to report in connection with oats or chaff. The northern markets being glutted with potatoes, shippers are now offering only GOs to Cos, but these prices arc not meeting with acceptance, as growers are still holding out. for 70s. A small amount of business lias been done in beans at 3s 6d,. but as buyers are not finding a market for-fScm on this basis they are now offering 3s 3d at country stations. . JUNCTION. YARDS.
