AN ALLEGED WELSHER.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 24. As a sequel to an incident on the .racecourse at Trentham on Saturday Victor M'DufT, a young man, was brought'before the Police Court to-day on four .informations of theft and one of obscene language.- It is alleged ho obtained-.a license to act as a bookmaker under false representations and did not settle up with his clients. It was stated in evidence that accused acted similarly nt •Whangnroi. The case was partly heard and adjourned till Wednesday.- ' t .
