I The Auckland Diocesan Synod met to~day for the purpose of electing a bishop, , Considerable-time was spent hi consideri ing the method of conducting the election. The proposals of the Standing Committee wero discussed at length. 'Tho suggestions of this Committee met -with considerable opposition, particularly tlie proposals to make the selection in St. Mary's Cathedral without discussion. Ultimately a special committee was appointed to draw up a scheme and report' to the Synod on Monday.
