Lord Georgo Hamilton, in a letter resigning membership of the City Freetrade Union, declares that he is as strong a freetrader as ever, but tho Government's policy has renderod. a continuance of frcetrade finance taxation impossible. Mr F. E. Smith, a prominent Conservative, speaking at Abingdon, said it was tho height of unreasonableness that somo few Conservatives should criticise Mr J3alfour for not making, during the veto conference, an aggressive and provocative political speech.
