BAPTIST CONFERENCE.

(Pee Press Association.) Dunedin. October 6. At.the Baptist Union Conference this morning the annual review of the j ear's work disclosed many satisfactory features, including a record increase in membership, a marked increase in baptisms, good results attending the evangelistic missions, and the number of scholars joining tlio Church. A splendid spirit of advance has been displayed, but especially in the northern district, where it was reported there had 1 been during the year a net increase of 288 members, the largest record in the history of the Union. The membership stands at 5165 and in 25 years the number of churches has been doubled. The annual report stated that there were not enough churches in the Dominion t& meet the demand, and a definite forward policy would have to he adopted.
