"ALADDIN."

There was a large demand for seats at the Dresden this morning, when the plans were opened for the first and only production here on Saturday next of J. C. Williamson's extremely funny and spectacular pantomime "Aladdin." "Aladdin" represents the cream of spectacular achievements skimmed from all hir achievements skimmed from all Quarters of the globe. The baloon and flag effects are both New York inventions., secured by Mr Williamson and Air Coventry respectively during their recent tour round the , world. Berlin made the beautiful costu'mes of the Australian bird ballet, which for the most part are of real feathers, each one of which is attached separately. From London come the costumes of the floral procession, while Australia is responsible for the magnificent fire ballet, the whole of which, scenery, costumes, and effect, were worked out by the J. C. Williamson staff. One of the funniest, and at the same time the most sensational, acts in the whole of the pantomime is that.performed.by Messrs Price and Revost. , The .art of nonchalantly falling from chairs, tables, and even backwards, in the orchestra, as if it were the ordinary way of passing existence, has been brought to perfection by these clever artists. The Turkish bath scene is said to be one huge joke from beginning to end. When the donkey turns, on the steam and sends the heat up until the thermometer nearly explodes, it is always the signal for hilarious merriment, which waxes quite hysterical as the various bathers emerge from their rooms, shrunken considerably, the two in the hot room having become absolutely dwarfed. There are two complete sets of machinery and effects for "Aladdin," so 'that while the pa'ntomime is -. being staged iti one town the duplicate set is sent on to the next. Everything for the Oamaru production will arrive liere. to-morrovv in charge of Mr Williamr son's advance army of electricians and mechanics, aiicl a scenery .and lighting rehearsal will take place on Friday' afternoon. In ,order. that: the pantomime may be presented in its entirely:;" the performance will start at 7.50 sharp.
