OTEPOPO ATHLETIC CLUB BAZAAR.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The bazaar hrld to supplement the funds of the Club was opened on \\ ednesdav afternoon by Mr V\ . YV . Wylio (president). The day was simply per.fect and as a consequence the attendance of the public from far and tieai was gratifying. Mr" YVylie, in opening the bazaar, gave a brief resume of the formation or the Club some four years ago, and of the "Teat success oi the gatherings helcl under its auspices. Then lie referred to the ever-recurring difficulty of secur-

ing a suitable track from year to year, and how this difficulty had been overcome. For a period of five years an available and verv suitable site has been leased, and the 'Committee, with characteristic energy, set about preparing the sround for the forthcoming sports. This work having extinguished almost all of the balance in hand, it was decided to run a bazaar to raise some capital for the October meeting. Ol course mere man can do very little in this line without the help of the ladies, but as this was willingly given, the bazaar soon became an accomplished fact. To the ladies then must every credit be given. Their work is now before von, "and as every article is good, well-made, useful, or ornamental, and for sale, Mr YVylie asked purchasers to perform their share ot the work, and then declared the bazaar open. llev. Mr Rennie, on being called upon, in a brief but humorous speech expressed his sympathy with the object of the bazaar, and asked those present to do justice to the work of the ladies. and will be finally closed this evening, when the monster art union will be drawn.
