Locker-Lanipson asked whether it would not be advisable, to utilise Lord Kitchener's abilities at the earliest moment, in view of a newspaper statement that a foreign Power was inviting him to organise its army. Mr Asquith, replying with warmth, said he most strongly deprecated the mention of particular officers. The Daily Express' Pckin correspondent reports that China has decided, if possible, to secure Lord Kitchener to organise her army, and lias invited him to come on his own terms and at his own time.
