Mr Herbert Radd will open a skating rink for ladies only in the Georgetown Hall at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow. In the evening the rink will be open to ladies and gentlemen. On Friday afternoon there will be a class for ladies in the Duntroon Hall and in the evening an open session, during which a competition for novices will be held. On Saturday night Ngapara residents will have the opportunity of participating in the pastime. The annual concert and dance in aid of the funds of the Papakaio Library takes place on Friday next, and should be the means of benefiting a worthy institution. A drag to convey performers will leave the Post Office at 6.40 p.m. An intimation appears in this issue to the effect that the portion of Duntroon Domain known as the Caledonian crounds will be closed to-morrow. The prevailing cold snap at least makes good skating .weather, and should tend to increase the popularity of the Olympia Rink in the Drill Hall. This evening skating can be indulged in from 7.30 to 10, and to-morrow morning and afternoon. On Friday Saturday the additional session in the evening will be included. We have received from the agents, Messrs Dalgety and Co., a pocket-book containing much information of a general character, but dealing more intimately with the virtues of "Scalecide" and its method of application. A first-class programme has been prepared by tho Junior C.E. in connection with the Wesley Church for their entertainment in the Church to-morrow evening. The children have been practising hard for several weeks in order to reach perfection in their items, and it is hoped that the efforts will be rewarded with a large attendance. The proceeds will be devoted to the foreign mission funds. Besides the items contributed by the children several will be rendered by well-known local talent.
