The Executive Council has appointed a special Board of Inquirj' into the Richmond railway accident. The appointment supersedes the coroner's inquiry. STATE-OWNED HOTEL. Perth, July 26.'. The State-owned hotel at Gwalia in the past- year made a profit of £1463. The profits since its opening in 1903 have totalled, £14,553. AUSTRALIAN POLITICS. Melbourne, July 26. In the House of Representatives the Sugar Bounties Bill was discharged from the paper. - As drafted it did not insure permanency, and another Bill will be introduced. The .Arbitration. Act Amendment Bill has been introduced. It widens the scope of the original Bill in several important matters. Perth, July 27. The Premier delivered a policy speech in which he stated the Government was going to erect storage sheds for wheat, and freezing work's in the north-west ports. He promised railway extension, the liberalising of the Legislative Council franchise, a redistribution of seats, local option, and the establishment of the Perth University. It is estimated that the year will end with a surplus of £69,000 sterling. SYDNEY'S MEAT EXPORT. Received July 27, at 9.15 a.m. Sydney, July 27. The meat exported last year showed a big increase all round. Mutton increased from 765,000 to 1,475,000 carcases; heef from 5000 to 27,000 quarters; canned meats 134,000 to 254,000 cases.
