THE WEATHER.
(Per Press Association-.) Wellington. July 12. The Rev. D. C. Bates' summary and forecast are: The weather has been tinsettled and showery everywhere. Easterly winds have prevailed, and squally on Monday night between Cape Campbell and timaru. The barometer has been unsteady. The present indications are for a falling barometer everywhere, and especially in the south, with winds veering to northerly and freshening everywhere. Cloudy and humid conditions will probably prevail, aid rain is probable generally. Gisborne, July 13. Heavy rain fell yesterday, 4.35 inches feeing recorded at 9 o'clock tin's mornin-. So far for this month 9.11 inches tive fallen and the rivers are all in a fresh. Last night- two lighters belonging to the Sheepfarmers' . Company broke idrift and were swept out to sea. One containing frozen meat was recovered ;e the bay this morning by the "Union Company's Tuatea: the other was • ashed "up on the beach. No damage was done.
