Some returns supplied by the city valuer (Sir Hickling) poiut to the fact that, despite the financial depression, the progress of Auckland continues in a. quite remarkable degree. Mr Hickling has just completed his supplementary valuations for the quarter ended August 31. Tho total ratable value of the new buildings, etc., finished in the city during tho last three months is £4OOB, which represents a capital value of over £70,000.
