One thousand bodies have been recovered, some "from the branches of trees and others from the roofs of houses. The Rio Grande Valley is under water, the flood being nearly-100 miles broad. * - . Several towns in Texas are flooded. The San Juan river is 20 miles wide where it joins the Rio Grande.
