Total 434 The weather was dull and the wicket fast. Before any addition was made to the overnight score Noble was taken at the wicket? His innings was brilliant all round—2 for 118. ' Trumper joined Ransford and both played free and vigorous cricket, so that the score mounted rapidly. Ransford, indulging in leg-liitting, reached his centurv in 180 minutes. A separation came just before luncheon. when Trumper, at 80, played Fielder on. He gave a chance off Buckenham before scoring, but afterwards was good all round. . He stayed 100 minutes and hit 14 fourers—3 for 285. The fourth wicket went at 291, Gregorv being easily taken in the slips. The third century was hoisted for 2<o minutes' plav, and then Armstrong failed to stop one from,Tarrant —5 for 306. I Macartney and Hansford, by fine cutting and driving, sent up 150 in _6o minutes. At 375 rain caused a short stoppage. On resuming, Ransford, after adding 40, on-played Buckenham. He batted 300 minutes and played magnificently all round. He gave a chance at the wicket off Buckenham at ot. -tic Jut 24 fourers —3 for 38S. ~ Cotter and Carter failed to stay the seventh wicket going at 396, and the eighth at 40S, which Lavcr followed at 425. - - "Macartney was cautious, and his innings lasted 95 minutes.
