(Per Press Association.) Nelson, August 31. The death occurred to-day oF Mr Robert Snodgrass, a well-known merchant, at the age of 70. On Sunday last, at the usual class meeting, the members of St. Paul's junior Bible Class and Harrier Club met for the purpose of bidding farewell to their President (Mr Stevenson), who is leaving this town for Napier. On opening the meeting.. Mr W isiiesky. leader of the class, said that Mr Stevenson, as President, had been very helpful both to the sports club and also to the Bible Class, and had encouraged the boys in all the work entered into by them. Mr Straehan. the succeeding President, also spoke of the good work done by their late President. Mr Straehan took the opportunity to thank the members of the Club for electing him as their President, and said he would do all in his power to make the class prosper. He then presented to Mr Stevenson a gold sovereign case with the hone that it might ht> full soon and always remain full. Mr Stevenson thanked the President and the Club for their kindness, and added that he did not need such a present to remind liim of the class with which he had shared much pleasure. A telegram from Wakaptiaka states that Mr R. AY right. Superintendent of the Eastern Extension Company, who succeeds Mr E. Brooke, entered upon his duties to-day, and the latter will take his departure this week for Melbourne. During his six months' sojourn here, he was looked upon as a Eopular chief and was highly respected v the staff.
