The attendance during the afternoon was 5000. The first wicket fell at 8, Cotter finding Palairet's wicket when 4. Lewis, at 11, was caught by Darling off Noble 2 for 53 (Braund 37). He added 21 n.nd then lost Poynitz, run out.—3 for 89. Braund's half-century was made in 55 minutes. Robson partnered Braund, and an excellent stand ensued, tho newcomer driving capitally to the off until he reached 42, when he was dismissed by a catch by Armstrong.—4 for 170. Braund (91), with Martyn, played out time. Braund Teached iiis century in 2 hours 35 minutes.
