NELSON. July 15. Tho trouble at tlio Puponga coal mine with the miners is assuming an acute phase. Nicholas Johnston, a very old resident and former Mayor of Invercargill, died suddenly this morning. Ho was for many years proprietor of the Club and other hotels, but retired somo time ago. He was apparently in the best of health last night. Deceased, who took an active part in local politics, was extremely popular, and his sudden end has caused'a painful sensation.
