Crossbred wethers — Best 17s? good, 15s 6d; ewes medium, ;14s to 14s 6d ; medium, 11. Cattle—Prime is scarce and dearer. Bullocks—Best, £l7; good, £l2 15s; medium, £8 15s; cows—best, £lO 10s; good, £8 15s; medium, £7 10s. Best beef, 43s per lOOlbs. SALES OF STOCK. At the Sheffield monthly sale on Tuesday 3760 sheep and lambs were yarded. About 1000 were in the fat pens, 700 being lambs, the bulk of which were little better than good forward rape sorts. The large number of rejects seen in the pens told greatly against the sale, only about 150 finding buyers at auction. The bulk of the others, however, changed hands privately afterwards, the buyers being allowed to throw out a large percentage. There was a fair ■ attendance of farmers, but dealers were few. Competition, except for lambs, was brisk, particularly for good ewes and lambs and good two-tooths. The following are the prices :—Freezing wethers, none to hand; fat lambs 13se to 14s 6d, the bulk being passed at 13s 2d to 13s 7d ; fat crossbred ewes, best sorts 13s 4d to 15s, others 9s 6"d to 12s 6d ; two-tooth crossbreds, mix■gd "sexes, lis lid to 12s lid: four-tooth do 15s; ra_pe lambs 10s lid to 12s 5d : crossbred ewes (shorn) and lambs, best lines 10s lid to 12s, all counted, others 7s 5d to 8s; woollv do 9s 8d to 10s 9d, one good line of all sound-mouth 12s 7d, all counted ; merino ewes and lambs, woolly, 8s 3d; do, shorn, 8s 2d, all counted. About 30 head of cattle were yarded, principally cows and springing heifers. Competition was very slack, and only a few changed hands, one or two cows selling at from £7 2s 6d to£B 7s 6d.
