" (BY TELEGRAPH.) Wellington, May 17. A deputation from the Wellington Typographical Society waited on the Hon. Mr Hall-Jones, who has charge of the Government printing office. Mr J. Mackay, Governmentprinter, was present. The deputation took exception to a statement by the Auckland Union that the Wellington Union had decided to urge the Government to cease taking on for sessional work compositors outside of the local union. It was pointed oub to the Minister that the Wellington Union had always advocated that a fair proportion of unemployed; compositors should be taken from the four chief centres. The- Minister expressed himself thoroughly satisfied .with the statement of the local union, and assured the deputation that he no intention of interfering with the previous arrangements obtaining as to sessional work.
