Hourst, leader of the French Niger expedition, has concluded a treaty with the King of Madidu, which ensures France a passage up the Niger and the exclusion of the British from Madidu territory. Received January 18, at 9.53 a.m. London, January 17. The cruisers Theseus and Forte, of the Channel squadron, have been despatched to West Africa in view of the trouble in the Niger Protectorate.
