LABOR QUESTION.

The President of the Shearers' Union has suggested a basis for mediation by a conciliation board. He urges that the pastoralists should allow shearing for the remainder of the season on what is known as verbal agreement, with remuneration on the basis of the 1891 agreement. A conference is to be held not later than January to determine the terms of the new agreement for next season. The pastoralists up to the present have not replied.
