Marriage of Miss Nellie M'Kenzie.

m Shag Point was en feU yesterday on the occasion of the marriage of Miss Nellie M'Kenzie, youngest daughter of the Hon. John M'Kenzie, Minister for Lands to Mr Maurice P. Cameron, son of the late Mr Robert Harvey Cameron, of Glasgow, and head of the firm of Cameron and Christie, Wellington. The ceremony was performed at the residence of the bride's father at Heatbfield. The grounds, which are situated in a valley surrounded by the Shag Point Hills, had been specially done up for the occasion, and looked very nice, the trees and shrubs, notwithstanding the winter season, presenting quite a gay sight, as if to celebrate the event. The ceremony, which took place in the drawing-room, was performed by the Rev. Mr Christie (Waikouaiti), assisted by the R~-\ Mr Clark (Palmerston). The room v,»s tastefully decorated with white chrysanthemums. Punctually at two o'clock the bridal party entered to the strains of Mendelssohn's Wedding March. The bride was dressed in Bengaline silk trimmed with lace, with shoes to match, and carried a handsome bouquet of white flowers and heather. She wore a gold brooch of quaint design set in pearl?, the gift of Dr Cahill, of Wellington, and a gold bell bangle, presented by Mr Robert Leckic, also of Wellington. The bridesmaids. Miss Mina M'Kenzie (sister of the bride?. Miss Barbara Ross (Dunedin) and Miss Lily Campbell (Invercargill), wore pretty dresses of cream crepon trimmed with white lace, and carried gold bangles with padlocks and initials, the present of the hndesroom. Mr W. F. Hih>oii. of Wellington, late of Jedburgh, Scotland, officiated as beat man, and the bride was given away by her father. The wedding breakfast was spread in a marquee erected in the grounds, which proved a very agreeable change from the orthodox style. Over 100 f uests sat down to an elaborate display of edibles, and not at all bashful in the face of circumstances, although upset by the sentimentality of the situation, did full justice to them. The following toasts were proposed, and duly honored : "The Bride and Bridegroom," proposed by the Premier, and responded to by Mr Cameron; "The Host and Hostess." proposed by the Hon. W. Montgomery, and responded to by the Hon. J. M'Kenzie; "The Bridesmaids," proposed by the Hon. J. G. Ward, and responded to by Mr W. F. Htlson ; " Absent Friends," proposed by Mr J. F. M. Fraser, and responded to by MrT. Duncan. M.H.R. : "The Ladies," proposed by Mr M'Kerrovv, and responded to by Mr Gilruth; " The Family," proposed by the Rev. Mr Christie, and responded to by the Hon. J. M'Kenzie; " The Clergy," proposed by the Premier, and responded to by the Rev. Mr Clark. Telegrams regretting their inability to be present, but sending greetings and every hope for the future happiness and prosperity of the bride and bridegroom, were received from about 50 ladies and gentlemen who had been invited, amongst whom were the Hon. J. Carrol!. Sir Robert Stout, Sir P. Buckley, Mr Pirant. M.H.R., Mr O'Hara Smith, and Mr T. Kennedy Macdonald. There was a beautiful display of presents received from friends in England and Scotland, and in New Zealand from the North C:»pe to Stewart's Island. The happy pair left for Oamaru en route for Sydney, where the honeymoon will be spent, by the evening train, and were treated to a right royal send-off. A piper played the whole company down to the train, where the spare minutes were beguiled by Scotch reels, Highland flings, and that ilk. The reserved carriage in which Mr and Mrs Cameron travelled to Oamaru had been beautifully decorated by the Railway Department with garlands of flowers, as were also the engines of all the trains passing Shag Point. Thi3, and the great enthusiasm evinced by the passengers is a tribute to a consistent member of a consistent Ministry. Salutes of fos signals were fired at all the stations along the route, the platforms of which were filled with cheering crowds. Mrs Cameron's travelling costume was of blue serge trimmed with black braid, with hat to match.
