SOUTH CANTERBURY v. HAWKE'S BAY. (BT TELEGRAPH.) Timarc, March 29. Owing to rain, play in the cricket match. Hawke's Bay v. South Canterbury, did not commence until two o'clock yesterday, and the rain attain comine on heivily in the afternoon the match was abandoned at 5 o'clock. South Canterbury, who went in first, closed their innings with eight wickets down for 116 runs. Sugden contributed 22, Smith 17, Jefferson 11, Hislop (not out) 11, M'Donald 11, Fish 10, and Rothwell 10. Wilson (3 for 27) was the most successful bowler. Hawke's Bay lost three wickets (those of Taiaroa, Lusk, and Hill) for 24 runs.
