Charge of Arson.
(by telegraph.) _ Timahu, February 10. The Supreme Court to-day concluded a remarkable arson case over the burning of a country hotel at Hilton. The only persons in the house at the time (2 a.m.) w ere the licensee (Holmes), and a mail named Meson. Meson swore Holmes Miked of burning the place for the insurance, and woke him up when the pce J vas in flames, and said he had fired and offered him L2O to say he (Meson) discovered the fire, and bad roused amines out o! bed, and the L2O not , el P ; »id he determined to tell the ruth. Meson being confessedly a liar, of his story was necessary, ? this could only be obtained by the est. The circumstances of Holme's nancial embarrassments, reduction of cck, misrepresentations in his proof of auu, and previous fires were taken, th SCOre w i tnesse s were called for c trovni, and a dozen for the defence. *J ur y found Holmes guilty, and tne n euce was four years' penal servitude.
