A CORRECTION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—lll the Racecourse Trustees' statement to the Trust at yesterday's conference. it was said that Mr Lintott and the Vice-President of the North Otago Jockey Ctui) made threats to me that the Lessees should be made to pay out of their own pockets the surplus of their expenditure over and above LISOO. I wish to say, in justice to the former gentlemen, that no such threats were ever made to me by them, or anybody else ; and, indeed, the Vice-President has never even spoken to me about race matters. I may add that I still think the Trust is the proper body to assume the current obligation of the Lessees ; and, with regard to the former's suggestion that the Jockey Club should do so, it must bo remembered that there is another local racing club besides the Jockey Club. Certainly amalgamation of the two clubs would have its advantages. Apologising for troubling you, I am. etc., D. S. Montagc.
