DAIRY FACTORY CONFERENCE.
TKe annual meeting of this Conference will be held in Mr J. L. M'Dooald's office, Eik-street, on Friday afternoon, when the following subjects will be submitted for consideration :-(l) To arge the G ivernanent to redace the railway rates on ebecse, and thereby encourage a valuable native iodastry. (2) To arge the Government to give the direct steamers a fair subsidy to carry mails conditionally that dairy prod ace is carried at reasonlbl» rates. (3) The best and cheapest mode of disposing of dairy produce in the English markets. (4) The most suitable sizes and kinds of cheese for the English markets. Mr M'D mald recently wrote to the Southland members, asking their cooperation in having effect given to the wishes of the Conference, in reference to a redaction in the rail way rates on cheese and other dairy produce. Replies have been received from Messrs Feldwick, Ward, and Valentine, stating their willingness to assist in the matter.—luvercarglll exchange.
