A large influx of gold, amounting to L 750,000, from North America, has taken place. Adelaide wheat remains at 445, ex store, and New Zealand do, 36a to 425. Adelaide flour, ex store, 303. Australian tallow, average quality, beef, 87s Gd ; mutton, 40s 6d. Cairo, March 19. Great anxiety is felt here for General Gordon, from whom no further news has yet been received. Reliable intelligence of increasing hostility among the Arabs is to hand, and the adherents of El Mahdi are cloßiDg round Khartoum from all I sides. Information has also reached Souakim that a great number j of rebels who were wounded during the ' recent battle, but who succeeded in reach- ' ing the hills, are now lying there in a dying state.
