TAWHAIO AND PARTY VISIT SIR GEORGE GREY.

(PMR PRESS ASSOOIATIOK.) ArjOKi-AND, March 19. Tawhalo and party returnod from Itawau to-night. Sir Goorgo Grey, who had no intimation of tho visit, received 'thorn vory kindly. The subject of tho approaching visit to England was discussed. Sir Goo, Grey told them that if thoy wero going to urge any political object, in all probability the Imperial Government would declino to intorforo, and rofor them to tho Colonial Government, but if tho objeot was only to sea famous places and persona they would bo kindly ontortainod by tho English peoplo. Ho did not ask thoir object, but simply advißed them to that effect. Te Whooro asked Sir Goorgo to get leavo of absence for him "vhen Parliament mot. Sir Georgo gave Tawhaio letters of introduction to various gontlomen in England likely to bofrlond them, among others Mr Gorat, M.P., who was expelled from tho Waikato beforo tho war by Rowi and party. Ho made a touohing appeal to thorn about drink, which was destroying their raco, and got Tawhalo, Rewi, Te Wheoro, etc, to tako tho plodgo with him, Sir Goorgo Groy appending his signature first, thou Tawhaio, Rowi, and the rest. Mrs Seymour Goorgo then sowed tho bluo ribbon on Sir Goorgo'a coat and on thoso of tho chiefs. Tho pledge holds for a year. Tawhiao said ho would strivo to conduct himself in England with tho proprioty and dignity whioh became his position. Tho party leavo by tho next San Francisco mail, returning by tho Sues? routo. On tho 24th and 25th, thoro will bo a gathoritig at Mercor to bid Tawhaio farowell.
