• ENTRIES CLOSE FOR THE ! HACK CLASSICS _ (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) Though the value of the hack classics at Takapuna next season have gone down to £500 each, both drew great entry lists. THEY are both seven - furl obc* events, the Takapuna Plate to ne run at the spring fixture drawing 105 entries, and the Wynyard Plate, at ; the summer gathering 112. The majority hail from northern : stables, and include present two-year-olds and hacks which have ! so : far failed .to.work themselves out of the minor class. There is- a fair sprinkling of outside nominations for both races and these include Briar Root, Tourist, Royal Finance, Push, Crash and others. . The most promising of the northernt ers to follow m the hack class are - Arihana, Te Money, Motere, Leitrim, ~ Te Taone, Storm Fiend, Praetor, In--1 dolent and Cruachan. » It is quite on the cards that before 3 the late spring when the first of these - hack classics has to be decided some of 1 those entered will have become ineligible by having. raced themselves out '> of the hack class.
