W7ITH' something between £2000 anc V £3000 surplus; on. the' last twc meetings, it would appear on the surface, that there was little room foi improvement m Wingatui meetings. With the infusion of new' and progressive ideas, and the impetus giver the game by the ' Aussle-Limericl< match, there has been ,a revival ir racing m .Duriedin;, and if the tide is taken at the flood— as it is now — the club must ride on to prosperity. Many reasons have been ascribed to the decline of racing at Wingatui, but it is a safe wager to attach the principal handicap to taxation. However, it seems safe to assume that the Dunedin club . has turned the corner, and if a progressive policy tempered with prudence, is adopted the club has every reason to lool< with confidence to the future. The winter meeting lias always been a life saver for the club. The meeting just concluded was one of the most successful the club has ever experienced,
