HE LOVED HER
But He Lifted Her Father's Money A Courtship Crime (From "Truth's" Special Dunedin Rep.) When a young fellow named Hugh Thow fell m love with a girl and started to; court her, it was ©nly natural that: he should eventually be asked to her home. Of course, he just as naturally accepted the invitation, but brought a heap of trouble about his head by indulging m a little magic by which he caused £5 to pass from. a wallet to his pocket. • The wallet, which belonged to the girl's father, was lying m the kitchen on the occasion of the wooing one's visit. He proved that his love for the girl was as nothing to his love-for the lucre by walking away with it. So it came about that he was charged with stealing £5 from William Williams. ' . In pleading guilty, he said that he was drunk at the time he committed the offence. The police asked for a remand and Thow took no part m the New Year revels. •
