SOME PICNIC!

Huge 'Bus Convoy

A WHOLESALE ORDER The increasing popularity of the motor omnibus m New Zealand has drawn , public attention to the many advantages of this form of transport, One of these advantages is the ability to concentrate all the vehicles to cover one route upon special occasions and to extend such a temporary service for long distances if required. 'Buses, for instance, can be used for picnic parties and sports meetings and are especially adaptable for this work, as such opportunities usually occur at times when the ordinary traffic is not heavy, on holidays. or Sundays. An illustration of this was recently given by the Midland Red 'Bus Co., (England). They were asked to find transport for 2,524 people who were going for an annual outing m connection with a co-operative society. This was done by the provision of 95 vehicles, each carrying from 25 to 30 passengers. When assembled, the convoy expended for a mile and a half and m the day's outing the 'buses consumed thirteen hundred gallons of benzine.
