Offer to Bet—The Aftermath. There is at least one very relieved man .m New Zealand. When the end of the Dwyer-McDonald fight came, somebody sitting m his vicinity m the hall .said that McDonald won. Here was a chance, thought lie. "Bet : a score he' doesn't get the decision." The mention of money frightened the talkative one, and the bet. was not clinched. Imagine the consternation of the would-be bettor when a moment later the judges reckoned McDonald had won! He has every reason to feel pleased. What do they say? "Fools rush m where angels fear to tread.' 1
