ANDY WIREN.

During the football season, "Truth" had pleasure m referring to Andy Wiren's staunch support of the Rugby game and his unfailing interests m it over many years. Now the cricket season has come round and Andy Wiren has another sphere of interest, an interest : which he has had .for 26 years to the writer's knowledge. Donkeys' years ago he was an office- i bearer m the old Phoenix Club m theWindy City and he has many times acted. as a. selector for the Wellington province. "In fact, he was one of theselectors who chose the Wellington eleven to play the Australian team which visited this country m 1905. He has been associated with all sorts of committees of the Association, and when "that body was up against it financially he never shirked his duties, but stuck to his guns like the sporting pentlemnn he is. "Mr. rWiren, with i brother workers, viz., -Messrs Martin Luckie, D. McKenzio, G. Warren, Chas. Stevens, C. A. Richardson, J. Vance and , the late A. T. Bate, did invaluable service for the Cricket" Association. Probably'no person m New Zealand has a cricket library comparable with 1 his. No -cricketer, or footballer- either, for that matter, N if he has any dispute wherein a . particular performance of any player either cricketer or footballer is lit question, can go far wrong m asking Andy Wiren to settle it for him. Andy Wiren is a cricketer for life, for the Association has paid him the compliment of ejecting him a life member.
