Dear "Truth",— On read-ing- your leading article m last week's "Truth" on the l-avages of VenereaJ Disease, I was simply astouhd-ed with the figures which you had quoted. It makes one stop and think what will become of New Zealand m a few years time if this ' relentless enemy is not held m check. It is the worst en.emy New Zealand has ever had, or will ever have; but wo have means to fight it, and eventually overcome it. One of the greatest enemies of this deadly punishment which Mother Nature has inflicted on her children will be the press. The time has now arrived when every individual press throughout New Zealand- should take up the campaign. Do not have a little article placed m an unnoticed corner, but have the subject m the. most prominent j place m glaring headlines. This is the only possible way to make the public realise what a disease we are feed-ing like-a special pet. We mustjje stirred to action as every fresh day that goes by means about twenty more i cases of the scarlet scourge m New Zealand. It is a great pity 'that the process which is employed to cure the stricken ones is not published by some doctor m a clean and simple light. I am certain that there are many stricken ones, who, through ignorance, fear what they may have to be subjected to. I am sure, sir, that you will 'be assisting once again to fight' this relentless enemy if you publish the wish ■which I have cxpressel. This sub*ject must not be allowed to drop now that some action is being 1 taken, but every individual must assist m . every j ■way possible. • If we don't— think of j the poor innocent children of a few ] years hence?
