Emma and Joe Fall In and Out

At the Dunedin Magistrate's Court last week, Emma Sutherland! charged her separated Joe with trespassing upon her premises m Kings-street, and with committing- mischief by damaging- a lock and breaking two panes of glass., valued at £1. Lawyer Hay represented Joe, who ploadod not g-uilty. • Emma informed the magistrate that .she was granted a separation from her husband a week back, dne day last week at .11.45 a.m. Joe bobbed up again. He invaded the ' old nest, collected a picket ofJf the fence, broke the glass m the door, and smashed" the lock. He followed this introduction up by chasing- her through the house, and twisting her arms behind her back. Lawyer Hay: Who owns the house? —Mother. Since the order was made, your husband was m the house on your invitation?—(He had been m the house, but I did not invite him. Joe said he had. been m the country and came to Dunedin a week ago. •Emma met him at the station, and they linked it to the 'appy 'ome once again. For several days he was at the wife's place, getting his tucker there,, and, on one night, playing cards with the family till late. Emma agreed m the presence of her parents to go to Makikihi with him, but later, through an argument ABOUT' A BOARDER COVE with the juicy 'handle of Honey, Emma revolted. The argument about the Honey person induced angelic Emma to slam the door on his pate, and, m pushing out his classic, foot, thp glass fell out. and, of 'course, got broken. Joe replaced it and was snapped up on warrant next day. ■ The Magistrate reckoned that 'Emma had behaA'ed m a most extraordinary way, and m view of the relationship of the parties m the interim, he merely convicted and discharged the hubby 6n both informations.
