PICKETT PENALISED.

A Bust-up m a BiHiard Room. There was a bit of a disturbance m a billiard saloon, m -which Cyril James Pickett was # concerned. Constable King 1 was called on the scene and succeeded m quelling the. commotion. Pickett stepped up to the law's limb outside and showered abuse and obscene language upon him, and "when collected (for his -unprovoked behavior, he resisted. "With the assistance of another policeman, Pickett got pushed along. He was sober. Next day at the Dunedin Magistrate's Court, lie informed the magistrate that he nvas drunk and was suffering from a lapse of memory. But Magistrate Bartholomew had heard too many excuses of the kind and s waa not softened. He requested the accused for £3 on the hot language charge, and £2 for not running to the lock-up with the constable. Pickett however, could, save the boodle by "taking it out" .for a month m gaol.
