A Double-barrelled Programme. There will be two. big new farce comedies on tap at this house next week: Charlie Chaplin m his first Mutual offering, "The Shopwalker," and Mabel Normand, Mack Sennett and Raymond Hitchcock m a delicious Keystone farce entitled "Stolen Magic." After a private view of Chaplin m "The Shopwalker," this paper unhesitatingly passes on the good word that this is the funniest film ever fashioned by the clever little clown. The humor is delightfully subtle and never offensive. Cheerful Charles is forced, willy-nilly, to aot as locum-tenens to a shopwalker m a large store, who wants to abscond. Detectives are on the premises, also a moving staircase and a. nice new elevator. These provide the ingredients of the plot, and Charlie mixes the cake. It's one long scream from start to finish. "Stolen Magic" Is a new idea from the Keystone factory, worked out on novel lines. It smacks of the "Arabian Nights," for all sorts of absurdities are brought about by a mysterious "key to magic," stolen from a Hindoo temple.
