Three Years Hard.

James Arthur Hill, 28 years of age, appeared for sentence on a charge of fraudulently altering a cheque from £9. 15s to .J 15s. Accused' was sent by his employer to purchase goods m Opotoki, and did so to the extent .of £1 18s. Shortly afterwards the fraud- -was. discovered, and when- Hill was arrested the money was found on him. His "Honor looked upon the crime as a most serious one, and ordered Hill's imprisonment for a period of three years with hard labor. The £10 found m , his possession was ordered to be repaid to the victimised storekeeper.
