Up to the time of penning these notes, Bernie Gallagher, Len. McKenzie, and Col. Campbell had given no indication as to their intentions with . regard to the provincial combination to do battle against the New Zealand team next Saturday, With only a week to co it is about time the trio disclosed the nature of their deliberations. After giving a little consideration to the merits of several players, the following team would, m my opinion, give the "All Blacks" a right good gallop on the 6th prox. Full, Barber (Petone): i three-quarters, Abbott, (Wanganui), or Wrigley, (Wairarapa), Evansen (Athletic), 'Toohill (Poneke) ; five-eighths, O'Leary (Wairarapa), J.- Ryan (Petone) j half, Thomson (Horowhenua), and Potts (Horo'wfenua) as reserve, back ; forwards, Wing, McNae (Palmerston North) or King (Melrose), Wilson (Athletic), Gdlchrist (Melrose), Wright (Petone, Cross (Petone), Byrne (Petone), G-us-cott (Wanganui), Lile (Oriental). Byrne is unlikely to play m any, case, owing to illness m his family, and to replace him I should select either Calcinai or Rush (both of Poneke). As regards the rearguard Wrigley could be installed m the centre of the three-quarter line, with Abbott and Toohill as wings, but I prefer to see the countryman playing m one of the latter positions. The scrummaging division would take a lot of beating, whilst the back forces are not to be sneezed at, even when opposed to such champions as Hunter, Wallace, 'and Co.
