LAW-BREAKERS PUNISHED YESTERDAY’S CASES. Mr W. ’ G. Riddell, S.M., presided at tnfe Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when the iollowing cases were dealt with:— Peter Hughes, a newspaper seller, aged 61, who was" convicted and discharged on a charge of drunkenness, was fined £1 in default three days’ imprisonment for casting offensive matter in a public place. For a second offence of drunkenness Robert Murray, a metal, worker, aged 38, was fined £1 (the amount of his ’hail), in default 48 hours’ imprisonment. Donald McMillan, - a seaman, aged 25, was fined £2, in default seven days’ 'imprisonment, for committing a grossly indecent act. AY il!i ain Scott, who was charged with being found by night without lawful excuse on enclosed premises, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if oalled upon within six months. On each of six charges of having been illegally on a racecourse, James Kennedy, alias Thomas John Kennedy alias Watson, a miner, aged 44, was fined £2, in default seven days’ imprisonment. For assaulting Charles Bevin, Benjamin Thake was fined £1 in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. Gladys Constance Foreman, a domestic, aged 18, who pleaded guilty to a charge of being an idle and disorderly person, was remanded to appear to-day for sentence.
