SWEPT BY THUNDERSTORM
HEAVY RAIN AT ROTORUA WATER INVADES SHOPS. Per Press Association. ROTORUA, December 30. Yesterday afternoon a thunderstorm swept Rotorua and five inches of rain were recorded in a few hours. The water invaded the shops and the sSreets were flooded. Considerable damage was done in the shops. The rain was purely local, covering a narrow area. There was no rain at Ngongotaha. There was a wash-out on the Whakatane road outside the town, and this is being repaired.
