QUEEN’S THEATRE
“HARD BOILED, 1 ’ A TOM MIX FEATURE. Staging a fierce battle upon the roof of a rapidly-moving passenger train, Tom Mix, as Jeff Boyden, in ‘‘Hard Boiled,” again demonstrates beyond all question that he is one of the most daring stunt-stars in the moving picture world. This picture is showing at the Queen’s Theatre. The modern Buffalo Bill not only rescues a beautiful girl from death, and routs a gang of crooks and proves that he knows something about that most difficult business, the management of a dudb ranch. There are also many hilariously funny situations in “Hard Boiled.”- 4 Tony, as usual, plays a most dramatic part, while Helene Chadwick, as the girl in the case, gives the most finished screen performance of her career. JThe cast includes such well known character actors as Dan Mason and Charles Conklin, while the feminine list includes Phyllis Haver, Emily Fitzroy, Ethel Gray Terry and others. “Spec” O’Donnell and his dog “Bing,” add some hilarious touches.
There are two extra special features on this week’s programme. The first is a remarkable film record of the comparatively recent Florida hurricane and flood disaster. Fox News cameramen were soon on the scene of this appalling calamity, giving to the world a comprehensive i>icture c f the disaster in a special Fox News reel.
The ther film deals with the tragedy of the airship 535, Captain Fonck’s huge air liner that was scheduled to make the non-stop Atlantic flight. Every detail, from the launching to the charred remains of the 535 is graphically depicted in the Fox News special. There is a large supporting programme with pleasing incidental music.
