ROAD CYCLE RACE
WELLINGTON-MANAWATU. Details in connection with the Palmerston North-Wellington road race for cyclists on September 25th are proceeding satisfactorily. There is every prospect of the event being the biggest of its kind ever held in the Dominion, All told, twenty prizes have been donated, the total value of the trophies being in excess of oBiOO. A large contingent of cyclists from the South Island will be taking part, and all parts of the North Island will be represented. W. Bray and F J. Casey have been selected to represent Auckland, and the Algie brothers will represent Gisborne. Arrangements have been completed to stage the finish of the race at the Basin Reserve. At the last meeting of the Port Nicholson Amateur Cycling Club further satisfactory reports of progress were made,' and four new cyclists were admitted as members. The total active membership now stands at 35. The next road race in the Hutt Valley will be held on Saturday over a course of 40 miles. Gano, winner of the last road race, is a son of a former amateur champion cyclist of New South Wales.
