STOCKINGS THAT ARE NOT!
The correct shade for silk stockings is “au naturel.” To be really ch ; c, your legs must look well tanned by the sun, and as though stockings were not! The craze in England last year for going about with bare legs has had its result this year in stockings that are quite substantial about the sale and heel, but made from the very thinnest net from foot upwards! The silk is so fine and the mesh so open that at first sight the stockings look rather like the hair-nets people used to wear to keep their “Merry Widow” curls in order I Insets of lace decorate other fine silk stockings; and I have seen some in a Batik design, looking like those Joseph might have worn with his coat of many colours! Some very dainty stockings follow the vogue for shaded effects. Jn front they may be a very pale primrose colour, shading towards the back until tney are quite a deep brown! But these are freak stockings—and “au naturel” ones are quite the nicest for every day wear.
