WIDESPREAD EARTHQUAKE “END OF THE WORLD COMING!’’ EXCITEMENT IN VILLAGES By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association. (•Received August 16, 7.45 p.m.) LONDON, August 15. An earthquake shock in England early this morning was felt over a wider area than any other of recent times. It extended from Cardiff to Peterborough, and from Bath to Derby. There was only a slight shock in London. In the most extreme cases beds were moved and the sleepers were thrown on the floor. Furniture and crockery rattled and ceilings wero cracked. The shock was accompanied by a large rumbling noise, and in one village a man caused excitement by rushing through the street, shouting, “The end of the world is coming 1”
