WELLINGTON WAR MEMORIAL
(To the Editor, “N.Z. Times.”) Sir,—Whatever niay be the merits or demerits of the design, with its somewhat doubtful symbolism, chosen for the Wellington War Memorial, this at least can be said of it, that viewed from the main thoroughfare into the city, it will always keep our chief architectural structure in the background, and make it subservient in the mind of the on looker. Whether this will, meet with the approval of the Government is a matter for consideration. It is to be hoped that before the memorial is gone ahead with due regard; will be given to that aspect. In my opinion a design in which that which is the right of every elector in the Dominion, viz., an uninterrupted view of Parliament Buildings, lias been respected, is the more appropriate one for the site.—l am, etc., ANZAC.
