CROQUET
NEW CLUB FORMED. Further progress in croquet has been made in the Wairarapa by the formation of another club iu Featherston. it has chosen tor its title the word “Jiaunui,” which is most appropriate to the district, meaning as it does “Big Wind,” for which Featherston is noted. The office-bearers are:—Patroness, Mrs W. Riddiford; president, Miss B. Card; vice-presidents, Mesdames Bail and Carlyon; hon. secretary, Mrs E. M. Wakely; hon. treasurer, Mrs R. I&rapson; club captain, Mrs E. Barry; committee, Mesdames Adamson, Ritchie, and Tutbury; auditor, Mr Nicol. The club’s tender for the Featherston municipal lawns having been accepted by the council, they will occupy them and the pavilion thereon. Arrangements are well in hand for the opening ceremonies, for which invitations are being broadcasted. With such an enthusiastic committee the coming season should be most successful, as some of the best players in the Wairarapa are members of the Haunui Club.
