SENIOR A Easily the best game on Saturday was the senior A fixture between Wesley and ’Varsity. Both teams were strong, and accurate stick work and good combination were apparent in both spells. * * » * N. Eoden, ’Varsity’s left full-back, I was unfortunate in being disabled in I the early part of the game. * * * * | M. Donald was a prominent player j for the collegians, and Freethy and ; Johnston played well for Wesley. j Fast and open play was noticeable all through the Karori-Wakatu game. * # # * The Wakatu backs were in good form, and in the second spell the whole j team, played excellently. • • . * | Perrin, Roberts, Spiers, and Cooper were playing a splendid game for the blacks, and Irwin and Stephenson were valuable assets to the Wakatu side. Hutt were playing one man short on Saturday, but for all that they gave Wellington quite a few anxious moments. In the second spell Wellington’s play was much brighter, and the team returned Hutt a little of what Hutt gave it in the first half. Smith was the only scorer for Hutt, and Mays scored for Wellington, * • # * SENIOR B Hutt were outclassed by Petons, the play was very interesting. In the second half there was a long period of up-and-down play. 4 * * * The game was spoiled toward the end by too much unnecessary rough play - . ; . Mills and *Lindop were the outstanding players for Petone. In the first spell of the Y.M.C.A.Wesley game it looke das if the game might end in a draw as the half-time spell was one all. Things turned out differently in the second spell, when Y.M. scored five goals to Wesley’s one. The forwards of both teams were playing well, and the goalies had a particularly busy time. Anderson, who scored four goals for Y.M., was in great form, as was also Ferguson, who netted two more goals for his team. Balcombe, Seddon, and Smi J h were prominent players among the Wesley team. #, * * * Karori still remain the superior team in the senior B grade. They gave Hutt many anxious moments at Newtown. * * # * The Karori combination was much superior. In the second spell Hutt improved greatly, and were unfortunate in not scoring on several occasions. • * • * Training College were playing well against Wellington, but not up to standard. Their work in the circle was bad. Irwin, usually so prominent in the collegians’ team, was not playing his usual game. * * * * Prominent players for Training College were Frazer, Simpson, and Sykes, and for Wellington G alius. Both goalies brought off some good saves during the game. \
