NEW FIRE STATION
AT PALMERSTON NORTH MINISTER OPENS BUILDING. Per Press Association. PALMERSTON N., July 19. The new fire station, erected at a cost of nearly £IB.OOO, including furnishings, was opened this afternoon by the Hon. R. F. Bollard, in the presence of a large assemblage of representatives of local bodies and public institutions, as well as brigade and fire board officials from several quarters of the North Island. Tlie Minister congratulated Paimerston North on this evidence of progressiveness. and mentioned that an increase of 50 per cent, had been granted' in the State subisfly to the fire brigade. He hoped it would be still further increased in years to come. He fully realised the value of the work of the brigades.
